Our Club

Barnsley Squash Club is part of Shaw Lane Sports Club which is situated close to the town and only minutes from the M1 and major routes. This is a friendly club run by its members which caters for squash and racketball players of all standards.
squashphoto1Our main clubhouse which overlooks the cricket pitch, is modern, light and airy and boasts a fine bar. Integral to this is the Squash Club with its five courts, two of which are glass backed, a provision that supports all squash players from the beginner wishing to get going through to Yorkshire Premier League standard. The facilities are further strengthened by the availability of coaching at the highest level. Club squash tournaments and inter-club competitions and leagues provide an ideal platform for those who wish to play at a competitive level but most players also enjoy the social side of the sport.

The club values very highly its youth development which is underpinned by a junior coaching programme. squashphoto2This programme provides an ideal foundation for juniors to maximise their individual skills and talents by helping them achieve their personal goals. Still a relatively new sport to the UK, Racketball, now renamed Squash 57, has proved to be hugely popular at Barnsley, attracting equal membership from men and women, young and not so young.  Squash 57 is an ideal sport for all ages from young children to mature adults and is the easiest to play of all the racket sports. It's particularly acessible for new ladies to the sport.
